AVG 8.0/8.5 Free Anti-Virus Blue Screen Of Death Warning – Explained + Some Fixes

Dear Readers,

Now You Can Follow The Computer Savvy Weblog Via Twitter: http://twitter.com/Computer_Savvy

This is mainly an issue with older DELL SYSTEMS and with computers who have already corrupted or un-stable registries

It is official AVG 8.0/8.5 is so unstable that installing it in many computers will in a rather short period of time cause THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. I’ve had about 2900 complaints so far most are DELL computers and in most cases. The computers need a complete re-formatting of the main hard drive. The main reason being there is an unstable part of code. That even in my computers reads as a series of serious REGISTRY ERROR in the START_UP registry section if you are running PC Tools: Desktop Maestro or PC Tools: Desktop Mechanic. That for what ever reason it reads as a WORD START_UP FILE error. But I’ve seen it read as quite a few different programs.

Fix 1: Un-install AVG any version and install AVIRA or another one like it. You should do this for sure, if you are running a DELL SYSTEM…..

Fix 2: USE newest version of file of AVG (8.5.432) it should fix the issue of the BSOD.

Extra info: If you have your system files set on hide it will not show so far there are 5 separate registry CORRUPTIONS..caused that are caused after 12hr to 24hr time period after AVG 8.0/8.5 is installed on your computer and is restarted. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE I’VE TIMED IT. Something like 12hrs and 12min after fresh installation of AVG 8.0/8.5 from an unstable source website and about 2 re-starts after AVG 8.0/8.5 is installed from a CNET’s download.com website.

Didn’t read it all but had the same problem (bsod)tried a bunch of things to fix but uninstalling avg is the only thing that worked which is sad I used to love that program. Fyi I’ve got a fx gateway comp.

  2. Doc says:

I have an HP ever since I download AVG 8, it corrupted my BIO/Boot and registry directoty files. I had to purchase several files to rid my computer of this because the software “anti-virus” acts and like a virus specifically torjan/malware.

I lost weeks of work and still because of this my system is weak.

      Dear Doc,

I’m sorry I’m not really sure what you mean. Are you saying AVG 8 acted like a virus and messed up your computer ? Or are you taking about something else ?

**And by the way how did you get your hands on AVG 8 ? people have not been able to download it for at least 5 or 6 months (Or so I’m told).

Thanks for the comment and by all means if you need any further assistance please let me know….

      Later Dayz,

my computer has a blue screen . I can not get past it, please help.. it reads ‘Avg install path: C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2012\’ at the top of the screen and then a bunch of lines reading ‘Avg watchdog initializing…’ Can anyone help me get past this blue screen ? and delete avg? it’s an Acer AspireOne OS Windows xp.. thank you

    • Remy "Se7en" says:

      Dear Kathy,

Try this once you get the Blue Screen Of Death. Turn off your computer. Then you should see a black screen that asks you if you want to strat Windows in safe mode. Choose that option. And then while in that option try to remove AVG 2012. You can try add/remove programs or you can try a program I normally use called IObit uninstaller.

First try that and if that still does nto work or help. Write me back and I can see if I can’t come up with another way to help you.

      Later Dayz,

      Remy “Se7en”
