So this is what I am saying to these people just follow these simple steps and AVG Free Anti-Virus 8.5/9.0 should work and don’t worry it is a lot less clear and I’m almost ready top say way too over complicated to run the new AVG 8.5/9.0 Free Anti-Virus. So no worries BEFORE SCANNING. YOU SHOULD TRY TO UPDATE THE VIRUS DEFINITIONS FIRST.

Instructions On How To Update Your Virus Definitions

1. Right click with the mouse on the AVG task bar icon it is Yellow, Blue, Green and Red.

2. Then choose the second option that says UPDATE NOW. It should load up in a pretty short time. But if it says can not connect or connection failure. Then just close any other programs connected to the Internet and then try again..

    • Remy "Se7en" says:

      Dear Naomi,

I completely understand what you are dealing with…no worries I get rants here all the time….in fact I am a bit of a ranter myself somebody…

The problem you are having is so much of your computer has been over run with viruses and some what has corrupted vital parts of your Virus scanner which at this time is AVG..what you should do if I were you ..is get rid of AVG for now anyways and install AVIRA…get rid of all the viruses then re-install AVG if you wish if not..stick with AVIRA…

If the above does not work…..I regret….to inform you…you will need to re-format your computer….

      Hope that helps,

      Remy “Se7en”

  2. cori says:

    Hello Se7en:
I have the same problem that Peter Hill had, namely I get the message “The scan log is corrupted (scan has not finished properly)” in AVG. I uninstalled Avira because the scan would stop and a message would pop up saying that Avira couldn’t continue now that I installed AVG I have the same sort of problem. I don’t know if I have a virus because the scan will not finish. Some times my computer freezes, so much I can’t open or close any programs. Sometimes, it’s fine and nothing seems to be wrong. Please help me!

    • Remy "Se7en" says:

      Dear Cori,

There could be a two fold issue…!. you have a virus causing havok..the other is you have a corrupted registry. Both can cause all sorts of issues with your computer and both actually look and act like one another. So if you have a registry scanner fixer go use that. If you don’t have one let me know….and we can go from there…

      Hope that helps,

      Remy “Se7en”

  6. john says:

I have avg 9.0 and I just got done updating all of the virus databases or whatever so I was gonna do a scan but when I go to click full computer scan the link goes seems to dissapear and it won’t scan, I tried to do a file scan but check all the files and after like a second it said the scan was complete with no virusis found. From the looks of things I don’t think I trust that.

    • Remy "Se7en" says:

      Dear John,

I’ve never come across that error/glitch before. But you can try un-installing it then re-installing it. That would solve any corruption of AVG that may of occurred. Or of course you can download and install the new AVG 2011 also know as AVG 10.

      Hope that helps,

      Remy “Se7en”

  7. eswallie says:

I am running win64 xp. Have AVG installed for a long time. It first would not update. It would start update and stop about 10% done. Then the computer started crashing. I then uninstalled (9.15) and tryed to install new 2012. It would not install. No indication as to what went wrong but it may be that it didn’t like 64 bit. Went back and rinstalled v9.15 and on the initial update it is stuck at about 10% complete.Any ideas?

    • Remy "Se7en" says:

      Dear eswallie,

I looked into your issue and here is what you have to do…..

So what you need to do first is un-install your old AVG. (You may need to force an un-install if AVG has become corrupted.) In that case I would recommend downloading IObit Uninstaller 2.0 . You can find it here http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html . Open it up. Choose to un-install all your old AVG free programs that maybe on that computer. But make sure you choose the option Force Un-install. It will get ride of AVG 100% from your computer.

Re-start your PC. When the PC has fully loaded up the desktop use a program called CCleaner. You can find it by Google-ing it. Run the REGISTRY option.

      After that…..follow my install instructions.

Then I need you to use the AVG Free Anti-Virus 2012 “64 bit installer”. Instead of the default 32 bit installer. You can find that installer here http://free.avg.com/ww-en/download.prd-afh.line-2012#tba

it would be the 3rd and last installer on the list…..

Now if all goes well you should have the new AVG Free Anti-Virus 2012 installed after the mandatory re-boot.

Later dayz and I hope that helps. If not mail me @ computer.savvy@hotmail.com ,

      Remy “Se7en”
