Zoom Panel – Survey Site Review (September 2014)

September 1, 2014

Name: Zoom Panel

Link: http://join.zoompanel.com/ap/join?master_id=18&menu=Join+Now

Who Is Eligible To Participate: Anyone from the US, Canada, UK and or Australia

Type of Award Or Payment:  Points / Sweepstakes / Cash / Prizes

Points or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey: 0 – 300 points

Sign-Up Time: Fairly Short

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 0 – 5

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: Longer then most people would want to wait.

Do They Spam You: No

Overall Rating: 1.5 out of 5 – This survey company’s very few overall survey invites. I may have received 3 survey invites since my last review on (May 2014). But just think about all thous cool rewards you can get if you wait. Can you say “Nintendo 3DS XL”. To bad that is one of their top tier reward and you will need 44,499 points (appox) to redeem for said reward. And probably when you actually reach that level. The prizes would have already changed a few times over.

Survey Savvy – Survey Site Review (August 2014)

August 25, 2014

Name: Survey Savvy

Link: https://www.surveysavvy.com/

Who Is Eligible To Participate: Pretty much anyone

Type of Award Or Payment: Sweepstakes / Cash / Prizes

Points or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey: $0.00 – $10.00 USD/CAD

Sign-Up Time: Medium length

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 0 – 6

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: Well honestly. Probably way longer then you’d ever want to wait.

Do They Spam You: Yes

Overall Rating: 2 out of 5 – This survey company has had some major spamming issues. Even thou this company generally guarantees you between 1 – 10 CAD/USD dollars per survey. You rarely if ever collect said promised incentive. That was stated in the survey invitation you received.

Extra Info: I have received around 6 survey invitations since my last review way back in (May 2014). Which is yet another dramatic increase, But still sadly rather poor compared to other survey sites out their.

Toluna Survey Panel – Survey Site Review (August 2014)

August 18, 2014

Name: Toluna Survey Panel

Link: http://us.toluna.com/ -US Site Link-

Link: http://ca.toluna.com/ -Canadian Site Link-

Who Is Eligible To Participate: US or Canadian Residence Only

Type of Award Or Payment: Credits / Paypal Money / Facebook Credits / Amazon.com or .ca e-gift cards / Sweepstakes / Product Samples

Points Or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey:  0 – 1,000 credits

Sign-Up Time: Fairly Short

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 0 – 10

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: Between 6 to 12 months on average.

Do They Spam You: No

Overall Rating: 2 out of 5 – I still feel the amount of credits required to cash out could be a lot less. Imagine needing over 20,000 credits just for the $20 USD/CAD Paypal payout. That is a pretty insane notion to me as a participant in this survey site company. Well you could always gamble and trade in 1,000 points to enter one of their random sweepstakes contests. Some of which have rather good prizes.

AVG Internet Security 2014 (2014.0.4744) – Paidware Review

August 14, 2014

The Rating Scale Breakdown:

  • 0  – 0.5 – Abysmal
  • 1.0 – 1.5 – Terrible
  • 2.0 – 2.5 – Poor
  • 3.0 – 3.5 – Average
  • 4.0 – 4.5 – Great
  • 5.0 – Excellent
  • Undetermined – Too soon to tell or lacking evidence to provide a solid answer
  • Not Tested – Has yet to be requested or there is some limitations to prevent accurate test results

————————–

Price$54.99 CAD/USD – For 1 year and 1 PC

A. Installation AVG4.5 Great” – There is no doubt that AVG has improved in this area 10 fold. I personally thank G-d that this time around it did not take more then once to install AVG Anti-Virus 2014. As oppose to AVG Anti-Virus 2013 that took more then a dozen times to install it on my PC’s. So well done AVG for getting it right this time. Better late then never.

B. Un-installing AVG3.5Average” – AVG Free Anti-Virus 2014 is very sloppy un-installer. But that is not a surprise to me. So has every other previous AVG version going back 5 or 6 years.

————————–

C. Stability Of Program5.0 Excellent – The UI (User Interface) seems to have been completely fixed in AVG 2014. Along with the jenkey manual update option.

————————–

D. Has AVG Free Been Compromised By Hackers Or Virus4.0Great” – No reports of AVG being compromised.

E. Speed of Scan5.0 Excellent – Very quick on most computers.

F. Updating - 4.0Great” – Automatic updating is fine. But if you want to manually update your AVG. Expect some epic slowness. I’m still not sure why. I have often run into times where it will stall on 30%, or 50% and it seem like forever before you get the 100% completed notice.

G. Does AVG Free Do Automatic Updates By Itself Without Any Issue – 5.0 – Yes, you can now with, no doubt. But leave the manual update option alone unless you want to invite stability related issues.

H. Internet Browser Cookie Detection Rate And Removal Test2.0 Poor- You are way better off with something like SUPERAntiSpyware or CCleaner that is more dedicated to removal of Internet cookies. AVG Internet cookie detection rate is terrible even with the option active and checked off.

————————–

1. Anti-Virus Detection Rate Test:

1A. Windows XP – 4.0Great

1B. Windows Vista – 4.0Great

1C. Windows 74.0Great

1D. Windows 84.0Great

————————–

2. Residential Shield Test - 3.5Average – I still find AVAST and AVIRA seems to grab the virus way before AVG does.

————————–

Computers Protection

————————–

3A. Anti-Virus Scanner 4.0Great” – AVG has finally beaten their just average score. And that should tell you a lot.

3B. Anti-Rootkit Scanner4.0Great” – Great option. Works well.

————————–

Web Browsing Protection

————————–

4A. Link Scanner4.5Great – Not a fan. But it can be very useful to some.

4B. Online Shield2.5Poor” – Completely in-effective and worthless.

————————–

Identity Protection

————————–

5A. Identity Protection - 2.0Poor” – Completely in-effective and worthless.

5B. Identity Alert – This feature appears to need a further upgrade. Beyond your main purchase of AVG Internet Security 2014.

————————–

E-mail Protection

————————–

6A. E-mail Scanner3.0Average” – Utterly baseline and average. I found no use for it.

6B. Anti-Spam3.0 Average” – Utterly baseline and average. Not even worth the setup.

————————–

Firewall

————————–

7. Firewall5.0 Excellent – By no means perfect. But way better then your standalone Windows built in Firewall

————————–

Extra Features

————————–

8. PC Analyzer (AKA. Fix Performance) – 0.5Abysmal“- If you don’t mind that you only can fix your errors for free once then great. But if you are like me and you probably feel this options is both somewhat misleading and out right bait to buy this extremely expensive add-on. Then you are probably with me on my conclusion.

9. Mobile ProtectionN/A – This option is pretty much just a bullet point reminder. As you can download the AVG Free Smart Phone or Tablet app from the Google Play Store. Again let me make it clear even thou you have paid for AVG Internet Security 2013. You don’t get AVG Pro Smart Phone app.

10. File Shredder3.5 Average – I found this addition to be very useful. But lacking what Spybot – Search & Destroy or even Advance System Care 6. Advanced File shredder options.

11. Tech Buddy Support0.0Abysmal” – This is just a cash grab. Completely worthless as well as falsely advertised and overally misleading to the end user.

12. AVG Direct Support0.5Abysmal” – With only a free forum and a phone number to call for support.

You will often find yourself ether being told to go to the free forum or they will recommend you go to further specialized support team via Tech Buddy. Which like I said above is an epic MONEY GRAB. Completely worthless as well as falsely advertised as well as overally misleading.

————————–

My Overall Score: 85/125

68.4 % = C +

————————–

My Final Verdict - AVG Internet Security 2013 takes what it once was and flips it on its heads. Then presents itself as a new more user friendly version of its past iterations. “Well sorry guys, That won’t fly with me.” But you got to love the File Shredder even thou it is so very basic.

This version of AVG and I’m talking about all AVG 2013 versions. Are clearly tailored first to Windows 8 and then to Windows 7. If you don’t have ether. Then you maybe as disappointed as I was. When I first upgraded from AVG Internet Security 2012.

————————–

C. Stability Of Program – 5.0 Excellent” – No crashes or freezing. Since I downloaded the app.

————————–

AVG Anti-Virus FREE for AndroidProtection

D1. App(s) Protection5.0Excellent” – AVG will tell you is the app is rouge and not affiliated with the Android App store. It does an excellent job at this. Thus far it has warned me 3 times.

D2. Settings Protection5.0Excellent” – This option is very simple yet very important. It makes sure in your options to install and download apps of “unknown sources” will not be allowed to occur. Other then that super important job. I saw no other reason for this Protection option.

D3. Content Protection4.0Great” – This feature is by no means outstanding. But I have had a few “AD” detection’s. I’m assuming that means “AD”-ware. But I can’t be sure at this point.

————————–

E. Real Time Scanner5.0Excellent” – This feature works like a charm. You can ever see it in action.

E1. SD Card Scanner – 3.5Average- Nothing special here. This is pretty much an external SD card memory scanner.

E2. File Scanner5.0Excellent” – This feature works as expected.

E3. Safe Web Surfing3.5Average” – Nothing special here. No detentions or warning. I’m still unclear as to what this protection is suppose to do.

E4. Deep File Scanner –  5.0Excellent” – This feature works as expected.

E5. Text Message Scanner – 3.5 Average” – Nothing special here. No detentions or warning.

————————–

AVG Anti-Virus FREE for AndroidPerformance

F1. Task Killer – 3.0 Average - This option is exactly what you would expect and nothing else.

F2. Battery Consumption3.0Average” – This option could of been so much more then. Here’s your phone and this where you are at ##% wise.

F3. Data Usage – 4.0Great” – Great, if you are on a set data plan.

F4. Storage Usage – 4.5Great” – A really great option to check on both your Internal Memory and your SD card memory stats.

————————–

AVG Anti-Virus FREE for Android - Privacy

F. App LockerN/A – Not available in Free version

FF. App Backup - N/A – Not available in the Free version

F1. Wipe Device  (AKA. Factory Re-set) – 4.0Great” – Great tool for people who unwittingly corrupted or infect their device with something really nasty.

F2. Wipe SD Card5.0Excellent” – Great for when you are upgrading your devices memory or if you wish to trade or sell your SD card.

————————–

AVG Anti-Virus FREE for Android - Anti-Thief

G. Anti-TheftNot Tested

————————–

H. Speed of Scan2.0 Poor” – Very slow. Even when I expect some limitations due to Smart phone system resources. This aspect has gone right down the tubes. I would of thought it would of gone the other way, FASTER. But nope not in this case at all.

I. Updating3.0Average – It needs to be updated manually and it won’t always update the first attempt.

J. AVG SupportNot Tested

————————–

My Overall Score: 82.5/100

82.5 % = A -

————————–

My Final Verdict -Part 1- The main difference with AVG Anti-Virus FREE Smart Phone App. Is that is it split into 4 different layers of protection.

The 1st layer would be your - Protection

1. Apps -This is where the scanner will pick up any rouge apps. That are not certified via the (Google Play App Store).

2. Content – This is where you’ll find out if you downloaded or transferred a virus on to your smart phone. Via Wi-Fi, USB or Bluetooth.

3. Settings – Is also very important and often overlooked when people first get their phone. Often there are settings with in setting that make your smart phone less then secure. Such as letting unknown or un-certified apps to collect your private data, Or transmitting your location without your permission (Also known as Geo-tagging).

The 2nd layer is the AVG Anti-Virus FREE Smart Phone App - Performance

1. Task Killer

2. Battery Consumption

4. Wipe Personal Data

5. Data Usage

6. Storage Usage

The 3rd layer is the AVG Anti-Virus FREE Smart Phone App - Anti-Theft

1. Device Locator

The 4th layer is the AVG Anti-Virus FREE Smart Phone App - Privacy

1. App Locker – Only 10 day limited trial

2. App Backup – Only 10 day limited trail

3. Wipe Device

4. Wipe SD Card

My Final Verdict -Part 2- Now performance wise. This is no watered down version of the full blow PC version of AVG. Yes, there are less options and scanning is a lot slower. Due to mobile phone limitations. But other then that you get what you would expect. A rather good free Anti-Virus program.

**As per the norm it is highly recommend that you upgrade to the newest version of AVG Anti-Virus FREE Smart Phone App when available. Also important is to update your AVG virus definitions as often as possible. Which in the case of this App there are new virus definition updates (Nearly) everyday.
