Q: When It Comes To General PC Maintenance. Is Paid Or Free Software Suites Better ?
A: Well that would depend on the person and their system usage. CCleaner can be a great stand in for (some) paid PC maintenance suites for VERY light PC usage. Provided the person remembers to run it at least once a week. But a program like Auslogic BoostSpeed. Is a great all around PC optimization and maintenance suite. That is of average price and is very very safe to use.
I would never say that free works in all circumstances. Nor would I say paid would work in all circumstances.
I say that because not everyone has the extra $50 USD or $60 USD (on average) price to spend on a 1 year term worth of high end PC software for maintenance and or optimization.
Even paid programs need to be updated and setup. To achieve the desired effects.
But you have to remember if you go free. You going to need around 5 – 10 different programs (on average) to achieve the same or better level of what you may get in one shot with a paid program. And free you have a lot more dependent on the end user. Your gonna have to run updates and run most scans manually. Where as most paidware suites have some way of automating the process.
