Angus Reid Forum – Survey Site Review (Oct 2010)

October 30, 2010

Name: Angus Reid Forum

Link: https://www.angusreidforum.com/Portal/p.aspx

Who Is Eligible To Participate: Canada Residents Only

Type of Award Or Payment: Cash or Sweepstakes

Points or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey: 0.50  – $3.00  CAD

Sign-Up Time: Fairly Short

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 0 – 3 surveys a week

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: Not sure, because I have yet to collect the $50 CAD needed to cash out.

Do They Spam You: No

The Number of Survey I Have Received Over The Past 8 Months Since Joining: About 30

Overall Rating1.5 out of 5 – This survey company is getting much much better with many more surveys available weekly. I am impressed with the SUPER DUPER fair time to cash ratio. I had a 8 minute that payed out more then $3.00. That is way better then any other survey site I have ever come across. To bad for the $50 minimal cash out level, but I should be there early 2011 I hope.

EPD 13: Fan Mail Friday’s (10/29/2010)

October 29, 2010

Dear computersavvy,

I noticed you are very detailed on your “ABOUT CSW” -Page-. How did you come up with all the information ?  and do you actually follow all the CSW policy’s ?

Just_Plain_Nose-ee

—————————-

Reply:  Well, Just_Plain_Nose-ee a lot of time and effort went into that page and the whole blog/site as a whole. And yes we do indeed follow all the policy’s outlined on that page.Unless of course it is said other wise in the post.

Such as is the case of our foul language policy does not apply to our text message dictionary. Because that just would not make any sense, having to hold back the true meaning of the short forms. In favor of no foul language. It would be a massive dis-service to our whole readership.

How To: Make A Really Strong Password -Ver.3.0-

October 27, 2010

Dear Readers,

Hello everyone….. Today I’m going to be covering how to make a really strong password. This will be my first of the new Re-Vamped And Re-Launched features. That you guys have been asking us to re-post and update.

————————–

PEOPLE PLEASE DON’T MAKE IT EASY TO FALL VICTIM TO GETTING YOUR ACCOUNTS HACKED. JUST FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE TIPS FOR MAKING A REALLY STRONG PASSWORD.

————————–

1. No Names (Family name, Pet names, Friends names, Nick names)

2. Don’t use the same password for more then 1 account you have online

3. Use upper case, lower case, numbers and symbol combinations

4. Make sure there is at least 2 number somewhere in your password (Most sites will make you do this regardless)

5. Make sure the password is as long as possible, more then 8 characters long is highly recommended

6. Try not to use auto-complete provided by Firefox or Internet Explorer. Unless you have a really hard MASTER PASSWORD in place.

7. Don’t put all your faith in anyone websites PASSWORD STRENGTH METER. They are often just suggestions and not actually always accurate to the a passwords hack-ability.

8. Never post your password or passwords next to your computer.

8A. Never place a password in a really obvious place that would make it look like a computer related password. (For instance where you store your PC games or on the side of your computer)

9. Try never to directly connect more then one account together (E-mail, Bank, Social network accounts)

10. The more important the account to you. The more difficult the password should be.

11. Just because it is the easiest thing to do, Like auto-save your credit card information or online passwords.

*Think about “What if my computer got stolen or my child got my password ?”

*Thinks about “What could said person get into and what kind of “DAMAGE” can this cause in my life, money or even relationship wise ?”

————————–

Then after doing all the above steps. It may take longer, but trust me you’ll be a lot safer off and a lot less likely to get caught with your pants down.

————————–

Hope this helps all you guys out and please try to be safe and know that a little bit of protection goes a long way.

Zoom Panel – Survey Site Review (Oct 2010)

October 26, 2010

(Last Updated Oct 28, 2010 @ 9:00 pm EST)

Name: Zoom Panel

Link: http://join.zoompanel.com/zoompanel/?master_id=18&menu=How+It+Works

Who Is Eligible To Participate: Anyone from the US, UK, Canada and or Australia

Type of Award Or Payment:  Points / Sweepstakes / Cash / Prizes

Points or Cash Normally Earned Per Survey: 0 – 75 points

Sign-Up Time: Fairly Short

How Many Survey Invitations Should You Expect Per Week: 0 – 10 surveys a week

How Long Does It Take To Collect A Reward Or Cash Out: Way longer then you’d ever want to wait.

Do They Spam You: No

Number of Survey I Have Received Over The Past 8 Years Since Joining: About 300

Overall Rating 2 out of 5 – This survey company has increased the number surveys (But only slightly). But just think about all thous cool rewards you can get if you wait. Can you say 2gig MP3 Player or $50 gift card to Amazon.com. To bad both are top level prizes and you will need around 3,000 points to redeem for said rewards. And probably when you actually reach that level of points. The prizes would have already changed a few times over.

Extra Point of Interest: Alright everyone now normally this site gets a 1.5 out of 5 overall rating from me and my team. But since I finally got enough points after almost 8 and a half years to cash out for my reward of choice. Which in this case was a new 2 gig MP3 player.

Now after a choose said rewards and ordered the Mp3 player. I was promoted that I would have to wait up to an additional 4 weeks to receive my reward. (Because it was back ordered an that makes sense because it is pretty much the best reward they offer)

Now the normal transit time Zoom Panel gives you to get your reward is around 8-16 business days. Ok now fast forward less then 2 weeks later from the time I ordered my MP3 Player, and what do I see in my mailbox. I see a medium sized bubble wrapped package with my reward (my 2gig MP3 player) safely tucked away inside.

(Even thou it was not labeled as from Zoom Panel. It did say something to the effect that it was from an incentive company somewhere in the US. Sorry I can’t remember where.)

So even after the warning of it being back ordered and the fact I live in Canada. (Which often means waiting forever to get anything from survey companies located outside of Canada) I still ended up getting my 2gig MP3 player way earlier then expected. And not only that it is a very good quality Mp3 player as well, minus the lack of some kind of radio functionality on it. (But that is just me nit picking, after all it is free)

————————–

**Hey everyone, I am back and I am here to answer what so many of you guys asked me via e-mail.

Q: What kind Of MP3 Player was it ?

A: Well it was a jWIN 2GB (JX-MP142) MP3 player. And again no radio. But really stellar transfer rate. And yes it requires 1 AAA battery. So no it is not USB powered, but when plugged in the USB may recharge the battery (But I am not sure)
