Blog Update #124.5 – The Computer Savvy Weblog Reaches Huge Mile Stone Of Over 500,000 Hits And Counting

Dear Readers,

I am extremely excited to report that today ” The Computer Savvy Weblog” has reached a super huge mile stone of getting over 500,000 hits and counting. I want to thank all my current and past blog membership. As well as all you hardcore (CSW) readers out there. I want to make a special announcement that our 2 main new features “WTF” which is written and was created by our very own “Ding Dong Danny” and we can’t forget “Scam Watch“. Although I write it in most cases, I could not do it with out my faithful researcher of the team that never quites to root out the evil doers out there. Well done ppl.

I would also like to quickly mention our just newly formated Scam Database/List. Which can now be viewed in its own section on our Features Page -TAB-

SpeedFan (4.41) – Freeware Review

Dear Readers,

Here is my full freeware review for SpeedFan (4.41)

1. What does it do ? It monitors your CPU, Mother Board,  Hard-drives and internal fans and gives you a temperature read out. Both in your system tray and  your Vista sidebar (If you have it running) with the correct up to date widget . So you can tell how hot your computer is running and to prevent possible damage and improve your overall system performance.

2. Ease of use – SpeedFan is very easy to use because all you need to do is install it and it is ready to go. In most cases it will auto-detect most CPU’s and Motherboards and even graphics cards. There has not been any computer I have installed it on that did not detect all the components.

3. Interface - Very simple SpeedFan has a few easy to use tabs and that is pretty much it. It is by no means fancy, but that is how I like it. Simple and to the point with no pointless filler. Dragging it down.

4. Can you leave it running and it will run with out issue ? Yes, you can no doubt

5. Is there Adware or Spyware bundled with it ? A big no

6. Is it stable ? Very stable

I give SpeedFan an overall rating of  4 out of 5 – This new version seems to have much better database of CPU’s , Motherboards and GPU’s to detect from. The program loads a little faster then the (4.40) version if that is even possible. There is still one a few things. I really want to see in the future versions of SpeedFan. And that would be the ability to have SpeedFan load up during computer start-up. The ability to check for updates and for them to fix the overly dark new SpeedFan icon.

Overall rating: 0.5 out of 5 – This survey company barely has any surveys and when you get one you may earn 0.50 to $1.50 cents CAD. The most insane part is the amount of money you need. You need $50 CAD to collect. I haev a hard time believing that it will take less then years to grab that amount to get a pay out.

OpenMedSpel (1.0.8) – Mozilla FireFox Add-on Review

OpenMedSpel (1.0.8)

A. Ease Of Use: 4/5 – Very very easy. Just don’t by mistake add an incorrect spelled word.

B. Security: 5/5 – No Impact

C. Usefulness: 4/5 – This is a very very accurate medical dictionary better then most medical dictionary out there. Even better and bigger then the English dictionary add-on.

D. FireFox Slowdown: None

E. Computer Slow Down: None

F. Type Of User I Would Recommend To Use This Add-On: Any med student and or person interested in medical research would greatly benefit from this add-on.

DownThemAll! (1.1.10)

A. Ease of use: 4/5 – Pretty straight to the point. But there are some more advanced options. That maybe hard to comprehend for some users.

B. Security: 4.5/5 – Very easy and safe to use. Just makes sure you scan the file you have downloaded before you open it up.

C. Usefulness: 4/5 – Does have some flaws and not every website.Will let you use this without a lot of issues and re-starting or even corrupting your download

D. FireFox Slowdown: Very Little

E. Computer Slow Down: Very Little

F. Type of user I would recommend to use this add-on: Beginner to Moderate skills FireFox User

Blog Update #124 – (CSW) Introduces New Scam Mail Database/List Format Updates This Week

Dear Readers,

This week the CSW team will bring you an all new scam mail database/list format. After the very huge success of our Hotmail scam mail list/database. Where we decided to introduce each scam mail subject and e-mail address as an independent entry. Instead of grouping all the address with similar SUBJECT line.

This way with a new scam mail address tree. It will be Google search engine optimized as well as easier for our readership to view.

We were gonna wait till September to introduce theses sweeping changes. But instead we have decided to do it now. At the moment the new format will only affect the Hotmail, Paypal and Foreign lottery scam mail lists.
