Harris Poll Online – Survey Site Review (March 2010)

March 15, 2010

Name: Harris Poll Online

Link: http://www.harrispollonline.com/sweeps.asp

Who is eligible:  Anybody

Type of Award or payment: Points / Instant Prize / Sweepstakes /

Points or Cash normally earned per survey: 0 -500

Sign-up time: Very Short

How many Surveys to expect per week: 0 (I have received more)

How Long To Collect Reward: You’ll be long dead before you get the prize you really want, unless you are really really lucky

Do They Spam You: No

Number of Survey received over 8 year since joining: 300

Overall rating: 1 out of 5 – Harris Poll Online still has some really cool prizes. But just the lack of surveys alone is bothersome. Mixed with the completely unfair point value per survey. Which to me is more then a little insane :(

CoTweet – Full Website Review

March 12, 2010

Dear Readers,

(Last Updated June 1, 2010 @ 7:51 pm EST)

Well to start off I have to say besides survey sites. We here @ the (CSW) generally don’t review websites. But we made an exception for both Twitter and Co-Tweet. The main reason we get plenty “O” questions. So we decided to address said questions as a new review type…We hope you enjoy it :)

—————————————–

CoTweet is how business does Twitter. CoTweet allows multiple people to communicate through corporate Twitter accounts and stay in sync while doing so. No dropped balls, no stepping on each others toes.

**At least that is how they explain it on their website http://cotweet.com/about

—————————————–

1. Q: Who Can Use CoTweet ?

A: Well anyone can use CoTweet if they want. Now saying that they claim to cover the business sector. So do I believe that everyone should use CoTweet if they have a business. Then my answer is a very strong and simple “HELL NO“. I said the same thing during my Twitter review….

————————

2. Q: Is CoTweet Safe To Use ?

A: Yes, so far it does seem to be. But there are more sensitive aspects of it compared to Twitter.

————————

3. Q: Is CoTweet Easy To Use ?

A: No not at all…you would think so because the main Twitter site is super simple. But this mess only looks professional compared to the main Twitter website. That is where the comparison ends with the 2 sites. This supposed all in one super useful better alternative to Twitter for the business community is not, what it claims to be.

————————

4. Q: Should I Allow My Kids To Use CoTweet ?

A: No point…..

————————

5. Q: Is CoTweet Stable ?

A: Generally yes….thou during our tests. I had a few times where it crashed or would not delete a certain Tweet for what ever reason.

————————

6. Q: Is CoTweet Useful ?

A: Not for me. More stressful then anything else.

————————

7. Q: Do I Need A CoTweet Account ?

A: No and that extends into being a business owner as well.

————————

8. Q: Can I Get A Virus Using This Service ?

A: Yes 100% yes..if you click on any of the links there is the potential to get a virus. Bar-ing that I have not had any reports of virus, Spyware or Adware.

————————

9. Q: Does CoTweet Spam Users ?

A: No, not that we have noticed

————————

10. Q: Are There Any Ads On CoTweet ?

A: No, not I noticed

————————

Final overall score for CoTweet is a 2 out of 5 – This site to me is so pointless. But it does have future possibility’s for sure. CoTweet has a lot overlapping features to watch stats from a bunch of different angles. Other then that and the grey overall look  to it. That is about as business as this site gets in my view. Stick with Twitter, Facebook and what other sites or apps you may use and avoid this CoTweet mess.

For people who know me well know that I have some huge issue with Facebook. So at first I was apprehensive with CoTweet. But their security and overall exposer rate is way better then Facebook is and ever will be.

Post Disclaimer: I know I sometimes get comments telling me I am way to harsh. But I just wanted to point out that this is just my view of this site and my exposure to the site overall. With use of the site to facilitate a benefit for both my companies “Computer Savvy” and “Internet Savvy”. Which I felt was actually a large step backwards from Twitter.

WTF: So, How Many Different E-mail Accounts Does One Person Really Need ?

March 11, 2010

EPD #17

(Last Updated April 8, 2010 @ 9:11 pm EST)

Today, I am going to answer the age old question “So, How Many Different E-mail Accounts Does One Person Really Need ?

The problem with this question is that there are so many answers and it all depends on who you ask !!!

So to start off…..I have had a few comments as well as e-mails asking me how many e-mail accounts, do I have personally ?

That is a good pretty good question because  I was just going to say I was not sure. But then this would be a pretty lame duck of a “WTF episode”.  But no worries Ding Dong Danny has you covered.

I have 3 Hotmail accounts all with “@hotmail.com” not “@live.com”…No real reason why I did not pick the newer @live.com address probably because most of my e-mail address more then a few years old. So @live.com was not an option @ the time.

I have 3 Gmail account as far as I know there is no other @ option available. But I am not very familiar with Gmail….

So that is 6 e-mail accounts all together for the people who are following along with the math.

Ok, now into greater details with a breakdown….

My 3 Hotmail accounts work like this…

1A. Would be my Ding.Dong.Danny@hotmail.com -My real e-mail address- account I use for this blog.

1B. Would be my Gibberish@hotmail.com -Just an example, not at all real- account which I use for sites I am not sure about.

1C. Would be my DannyDD@hotmail.com -Just an example, not at all real- the account I use for forums as well as newsletters.

————————————–

My 3 Gmail Accounts

2A. Would be my Ding.Dong.Danny@Gmail.com -Just an example, not at all real- account I use for websites that don’t allow or except Hotmail e-mail address like ISOHUNT.com

2B. Would be my Gibberish@Gmail.com -Just an example, not at all real- account which I use for sites I am not sure about.

2C. I Would be my DannyDD@Gmail.com -Just an example, not at all real- the account I use for forums as well as newsletters.

—————————————————-

Now why so many, well that is pretty simple. There are just some sites out there you don’t want to use your everyday account you. Other wise you will have so much spam and junk mail in it you’ll run out of space before you know it.

Then there will be e-mail address you want to use to send out resumes/CV’s. So then your gonna want a professional sounding e-mail account name.  Could be your real name could be something clean cut. Just try to avoid numbers or sexual references no “sexpot”, “drop dead sexy” and such or BFG and I am not going to explain what BFG can stand for in a sexual nature. So don’t even bother asking…..

—————————————————–

My Final Conclusion: So, my final conclusion on this matter. Is simple and to the point, YOU are the only person that will be able to decide how many e-mail accounts is good for you. Just know that the more you have the more there is a chance you will be hacked or hijacked. Also important to note is you have to check all of said accounts, at least once every 90 days or they will close your account. There is also the fact that some app/programs/add-ons. That help organize e-mail accounts some have limits such as no more then 5 accounts per account type (IE. @hotmail.com or @Gmail.com)

If you need any more hints or tips. Just e-mail or comment using the information provided below…..

———————————————————–

-Till Then Don’t Be Stupid be SAVVY-

———————————————————–

If you guys have any questions or comments on the above subject. By all means contact me at ether computer.savvy@hotmail.com or my personal e-mail address ding.dong.danny@hotmail.com or just simply leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.
