Avast Home Edition does NOT install on Windows Server 2003. I tried it today. How did you install it on Windows Server?

    • Se7en Says:

      Dear Tried Avast,

You can not install it on Windows server 2003..because it can’t use it for business reasons..only private at home use…that is in the terms and agreement you check off…after installing the program…

      Hope that helps,

      Se7en

EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks!
I had been leaning toward Avira but some other sites made me consider Avast. After looking at this blog…I think that Avira is the right choice for me. Thanks

thanks oh so much! for two days I have been trying to make up my mind whether to buy a key from kaspersky after the trial or not even though i miss my avast, but then again i was thinking avira. i think not avira!avast has so much to offer other than sitting at the computer waiting for that virus block to ask for the next move before continuing to scan. i don’t mind that relaxtion though. kisses to se7en

    • Se7en Says:

      Dear whitknidenise,

Happy I cud help you out….that was the whole point..I had the same issues after..AVG 7.5 expired..and was no longer supported…

      Se7en

  9. Nil Says:

well nice review,,I am using avira premium now after trying avast..the question arises, I didnot face yet any warez that have malwares..as avira dont have p2p shield how far it can prevent me do you think?

    thanks

    • Remy "Se7en" Says:

      Dear Nil,

Sorry What do you mean….if you mean will it still protect you from a virus from a P2P software…yes..but it will find it via a residential shield or automatic scan instead of incoming virus tagged by a P2P virus scanner….

      Thanks for the comment,

      Remy “Se7en”

  10. b.rajamani Says:

i still cant believe one can use 2 av prgms simultaneously.wil u pls elaborate here?

    • Remy "Se7en" Says:

      Dear b.rajamani,

Yeah you can use AVG and AVIRA..but the companies will tell you that it will cause conflicts..I have never had one..other then when I tried AVAST and AVG…AVG does not like AVAST at all and it will cause the blue screen of death…..in some cases…

      Thanks for the comment,

      Remy “Se7en”

  11. best binoculars Says:

what would you say that it’s most important: reliability or speed or price?

    • Remy "Se7en" Says:

      Dear best binoculars,

I would say…..reliability is the most important then the price…..Speed can be fixed later….

      Thanks for the comment,

      Remy “Se7en”

  12. mitten vinyl Says:

That is very important section. Thanks.

  13. Waleed Says:

thank you for this great jop. I want to add something about avast support I contact thim before about problem at support@avast.com and the answer come to me in less than 24 hours.

  14. jujdred Says:

I noticed that basically avast! was superior to Avira in almost all aspects except the very last one, which can be a critical decision point. HOWEVER, you stated that avast! is not reliable?
If you left your computer on for 2 weeks, god knows WHY anyone would do this in the first place, how many pop ups would Avira have on your screen that you must click off? What happens if you don’t click them?

I am not biased, I have used both and both are great.
I have been using avast! now for over 6 months and find it to be much more reliable than Avira. I have never had it stop when it detected a virus and if you don’t use certain services that the resident shields cover, shut them off and save some resources.

I used Avira on my ex’s desktop and she had nothing but problems left and right. Not sure if it was her or her kids, but maybe it’s not as simple as we are led to believe. I ended up having to reformat her drives and reinstall windows (upgraded to 7), installed avast! instead of Avira, and (thankfully) she hasn’t called me in over a month.
    thanks avast!

    • Remy "Se7en" Says:

      Dear jujdred,

Well I appreciate your insight…I personally have all 3 of the major free virus scan programs of 3 different computers. All of which have the same stats and it seems that AVAST running a AUTOMATIC scan does tend to stop in its tracks. Until you press what ever option you wish to pick. Now AVIRA is great but no perfect and the large pop ups are very annoying and depending on the computer can cause issues.

You are dead on about AVAST and stopping certain services from running to save computer memory. But the main conflict with AVAST is not only some of the aspects many ppl find harder to grasp then AVG or AVRIA. But the AVAST Tea Timer conflicts with some very common programs mainly only freeware and or trial ware but I have seen main stream m or paid programs have issues with it.

Lastly the only time I have seen the other virus scan programs stop dead. Have been when they have detected a virus via their main residential shield, Which is what it is suppose to do. But during a full scan AVAST will make a sound. Then show a very LARGE BIO-HAZARD symbol with a description of what the issue is. Now if this is not longer the case on the newest version of AVAST. I’ll look into it, but it is probably related to a setting that was changed on one of our parts.

      Thanks for the comment,

      Remy “Se7en”
