The World Of WebKinz !!!

June 2, 2008

Dear Readers,

(Just a note..This was first post on my internetiq.wordpress.com and now can only be seen here ENJOY)

Today I’m going to be talking about the new rage of THE “WEBKINZ“…well what are WebKinz..well they are basically a new breed of the beanie baby….and they are safe for kidz….they provide a web key basically a password to activate your Webkinz. After activation you or your child will be able to name their Webkinz play with your Webkinz with online games, win prizes, build a room for your pet, dress your pet, E.C.T. No real money will be exchanges other then when you buy the furry pet at your local Hallmark store or Chapters-Indigo…there are other places that you may purchase the Webkinz……most of them have it advertised on the front window of the store. I’ve seen them for $6.99 Canadian to about $20.99 Canadian with out tax..The main purpose for the Webkinz is to provide a safe site for you kidz to play that they do not require you or your child to provide any private information such as address, name or telephone number…..I have tried other such kid safe websites trends like the Brats and Barbie USB key locked websites….the main different is the price….and the real big differences is the Webkinz is not a locked WEBSITE so beware and still watch your kidz because unlike the Bratz and Baribe USB key locked website your child can navigate away from the website to an unsafe website. The Webkinz are directed to children 4-13 years of age….and I find that fair……another aspect…of Webkinz is their ability to be collected..but as of yet I do not see them…going for hundreds of dollars on e-bay or at local retailers….but they do sell out as for example the May 2008 Webkinz. That I was lucky enough to grab the very cute Panda Bear….There are two types of Webkinz. The regular ones…and the small version called littleKinz….

Extra info on Webkinz……

They work on both PC’s and MAC’s and it will work with Internet Explorer 6…..and Mozilla FireFox and I have not seen a computer running XP have any problems running the website…..so enjoy…..and let me know how you found this blog…and how you or your child is enjoying their Webkinz….

Still to come reviews on other child directed websites such as Bratz and Baribe USB keys and many others…

Hope to hear from you guys and till next time….

Thanxs,

Scam Watch: PayPal E-mail And Website Scam

June 2, 2008

Dear Readers,

(Last Updated Sept 21, 2009 @ 12:21 pm EST) R V2.0

This is such a huge issue and so I keep on hearing about it over and over again and my e-mail box is getting rammed with this issue, AVG, and Facebook issues…

Ok this is the way it is going down…..

Ok over the last 3 mouths people have been getting e-mails from what appers to be from PayPal and it ends up not being from anyone even close to PayPal. So these are some tips on how to spot a fake.

1. It does not name you using your full name or business name…..

2. It ends up in your junk mail folder when you saved you first PayPal registration e-mail. BIG hint people it is the same e-mail address they use to send you future e-mails…

3. It has a weird handle like winner.com….

4. It sounds really strange asking you do something. You just did like change your password…

5. If you have problems choosing a password that is strong. Try using the PASSWORD METER on the PayPal website. If you use the  PASSWORD METER you should not have this issue. But on the other hand if you chose a really weak password your way more likely to have an issue…

Now about the website part. There are currently 3 clones of the PayPal website out there most links have been in e-mails I’ve received. First off if PayPal has an issue that need to be resolved. They will send you another e-mail if the first one gets deleted. Their policy I believe is 3 e-mails to make contact with you…

More on the websites, They are all missing 2 things advertisement’s and the password thing is on the wrong side or in the middle of the page instead of the left side as the real one PayPal website has.

People please let me know of any e-mails you receive like this or are if you are weary of. I collect them and am making a database to stop this type of attack…

Hope this helps,

Scam Watch: Facebook Password Scam

June 2, 2008

Dear Readers,

Now You Can Follow The Computer Savvy Weblog Via Twitter: https://twitter.com/Computer_Savvy

(Last Updated Sept 21, 2008 @ 12:21 pm EST) R V2.0

I’m sad to report that there is a relatively new FaceBook Password Scam and this is how it works and how to avoid it.

So you go into the FaceBook Log in page you probably have bookmarked it like most people and when the page loads up there is a message that says “There has been an attempt to accesses you FaceBook account please change your password.” So then it directs you to a blue highlighted link a normal type of link you would see on any other web page. So of course most of us worried about our accounts. Will follow the steps and that’s when an e-mail goes to your e-mail account that is registered for that FaceBook account and if you decide to change your Password with that e-mail link. (That looks like an official FaceBook e-mail) DON”T change your password using this e-mail link for any reason DELETE it or report it to FaceBook. Instead Go into your FaceBook Account with your regular password and change it manually yourself. And then never use the e-mail link it is a very clever attempt to hijack your very personal FaceBook Account. I have received a lot of e-mails over the past 2 weeks about this and am sad to say. That I was almost tricked by this e-mail scam myself it is a cloned log in page for FaceBook. NEVER ON ANY WEBSITE USE AN E-MAIL LINK TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. Always go in yourself and change it, unless you lost your password or your user name.

Hope this helps……

Stop the cycle of this Scam and be smart and think……does this look right…
