I just received a bunch of e-mails regarding AVG 8.0/8.5 Free Anti-Virus saying it will not update or it keeps crashing. I have looked into it and have found some of the reasons for the crashes.
First Some Of The Reasons For AVG Not Being Able To Update Are:
1. You are running a few Internet applications at one time like uTorrrent, WeatherEye or Windows Update, Windows Defender Update….
2. You have to many Internet windows open…
Ways To Fix This Issue
Now this is gonna sounds stupid, but it works. Close all your Internet connected programs and just run AVG Free 8.0/8.5. So far that has worked and AVG will normally will update with no issues in the bilk of cases. Please let me know if this does not work or you have found other issues with this software.

how to upgrade avg 8.5 to 9.0? Do i need another license key? Or do i have to pay for it?

Yeah not really what you want to see with a mainstream program such as AVG Free. But it normally will work.

Install FreeProxy in another system and specify those details in AVG update’s Proxy settings. It worked for me.
